Information Security Law

27. May 2021

Our Cyberboost funds have supported CBS Law and the law firm Gorrissen Federspiel’s mapping and analysis of laws regardig cybersecurity in the EU.

The book “Informationssikkerhedsret” has just hit shelves and is the first book in Danish, giving an collected and systemized overview of the most important rules and regulations regarding cybersecurity. In just the last few years a number of rules have been enacted in the area, which was sparsely regulated beforehand. The new book also introduces how these rule can be functionally complied with in the individual companies.

The editor of the book is Professor Søren Sandfeld Jakobsen of CBS Law. He has had the opportunity to publish the book, because Cyber Hub has supported him and his project partner, the law firm Gorissen Federspiel’s, research project “Regulation and Gorvernance” with our Cyberboost funds.

The research project has mapped and analyzed rules and regulations regarding cybersecurity in the European Union, so they can be understood by regular Danish companies.

The support made the book possible

With our project we wanted to, at first, map rules and how they interact. But with Cyberboost, we ware able to get such a good overview, that we thought we might as well write a book on the subject. We gathered a whole bunch of other law experts, that have all contributed in an easily understandable language.

The Cyberboost grant of DKK 100,000 has been used to pay the wage of lawyer Mathias Mølsted Andersen, so he could do some digging, in the form of collecting, systematizing and analyzing the numerous laws about cybersecurity.

We are talking about many complicated laws, that can be very difficult to understand and comply with. Especially at the many SMBs which can be presumed to have more difficulty in understanding the laws than larger and more resource rich companies.

Professor Søren Sandfeld Jakobsen already has plans to make an updated version of the book and considers applying for Cyberboost again, to make the new book a reality. Before then he and the project partner will hold a seminar about cybersecurity later in the year, where the Danish Chamber of Commerce will be attending.
